Now that my recovery is fully underway—I'm fitted for my functional brace today!—my thoughts have returned to photography. I cannot afford to resume the hobby with my former enthusiasm; I'll have to be more methodical about the photographs I make.
Here is one of the last photographs I made before my surgery, and an example for this week's Photo Friday subject: angles.

This photograph was taken on the last trip I made to downtown Portland. I took it on a whim. When I got the prints back, I was struck by the possibilities in this subject, an apartment building in downtown Portland, just north of the park blocks. I want to return to make better exposures in the future.
Though I haven't taken a single photograph in two months, I've been reading various photographic publications (most notably Practical Photography, as mentioned yesterday). Also, I've continued with a fun exercise in which I look at any given photograph and then attempt to guess how it was taken: which f-stop? what shutter speed? what lens? any filters? It's impossible to know for sure whether I'm correct (in most instances), but it's still fun to guess.
In a couple of weeks I'll begin to work with Warren, my photography instructor, designing his web site. In return, he'll give me one-on-one photography advice. I may get to tag along with him on a job or two, for example, to see how commercial photographers actually work.
I'm ready to become a shutterbug again.
(By the way: check out Mac's photos of his trip to Costa Rica. Lush!)
