It's been a while since I've posted a remodeling update. Work progresses, though slowly. Visually, there's little to document.
At the last update two weeks ago, NIc, our electrician, had finished installing a new electrical panel and a new service panel. These, he tells me, are the backbones of the electrical system. When we decide to rewire the entire house, the bulk of the work has already been done. This is Good News.
As I've already mentioned, while Nic was mucking around the electrical system, we had him wire run wire to the library for a new wall-based electrical outlet (all of the others are in the floor) and a wall-switch for on overhead light.
(Tangent: Mac and Pam have been kind enough to donate two chairs to us. If we decide the style matches the library, I'll have them reupholstered. Else, they will become property of the Briscoes.)
After Nic finished roughing-in the electrical system, we had an inspection. The inspector wasn't allowed to search for violations outside the scope of the current project. However, if he saw something, he could call it. He saw the work that Jeremy and I did last year. "This isn't right," he said. "You need to fix this." We received a marginal pass, which means there was a short list of things to change before we could receive permission to proceed.
Nic fixed those, and we passed a second inspection on Wednesday. Meanwhile, all the plumbing has been roughed-in — and passed inspection.
Yesterday, at long last, drywalling work began. With the sheetrock hung, the bathroom feels smaller. "Take a picture", Kris said. I've tried to, but nothing really captures the scene. (I need a fish-eye lens.)

The sheetrock should be finished this weekend. On Monday, Kris will paint the bathroom. Next week, the whole thing should start to come together: vanity, bathtub, toilet, fixtures, the works.

What the hell was wrong with my wiring job?!
