Balsamic Vinegar & Olive Oil
Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best... like Balsamic Vinegar & Olive Oil.

The combination has always been one of my favorite salad dressings, but it also makes a wonderful dip for bread. Poor a generous amount of good olive oil on a small plate, and then drizzle some balsamic vinegar over the top. Take a piece of your favorite bread and dip it in the mix... and enjoy. The flavors are much bolder and more complex than basic butter, and it's a lot healthier, too. Makes a great accompaniment to any pasta dish.

Ian and Tristan love dunking their bread in the combo you've just described. It's especially good with the pugliese bread from Costco or Safeway. It just cracks me up to hear kids clamoring for "balsamic vinegar and olive oil--please, Mom, please?"
