Goodbye Old Friend
Today we did one of the hardest things we've ever done. We took Barney in for his final trip to the vet.

He lived a good life as far as dogs go, but at close to 14 years (or older, we're not sure), and with the health problems he was having lately, it was time to go. Almost 13 years to the day that we brought that short-legged, good-natured, stray dog home; we took him in to the vet and put him to sleep. Goodbye old friend, we'll miss you. :-(

This brings tears to my eyes. He was such a sweet dog. It's too bad they can't live longer. You did the best thing; it wouldn't have been good to have him suffer.
